The Pinnacle Award is given to an individual in recognition of their efforts that have had a positive impact on the direction and standards of the vacation industry and of the C.A.R.E. organization. The winner of this lifetime achievement award must have been in the vacation industry for a minimum of 15 years and have demonstrated their commitment to community through philanthropic activities and possess characteristics of leadership, integrity, quality standards and ethics.

Patrick began his career in the vacation industry 25 years ago in outdoor resort sales and marketing. In 1987, he acquired a 350 acre campground resort in upstate New York, becoming President of East Coast Resorts. To expand the vacation and travel opportunities for the members of East Coast Resorts, Patrick established Condominium Travel Club in 1988 and in 2003 he purchased a major full service tour and travel agency.

In 1989, Patrick assisted in organizing and funding the Coalition of Membership Resorts in New York which was instrumental in the writing and passage of the Membership Campground Act of New York in 1991. In 1984, he became active in the formation and leadership of the Resort Developers Association servicing as its Vice President since 1996.  Patrick since founded Resorts of Distinction, which is an affiliated outdoor resort network providing members with camping opportunities at over 100 private outdoor resorts.

With great pride, Patrick has been active in the C.A.R.E. organization for over 20 years. He regularly attends the conferences and supports C.A.R.E. by actively participating on several committees. Patrick has been instrumental on the Travel Club Compliance Committee since its inception and is always eager to share his expertise and knowledge with other C.A.R.E. members.

Patrick exhibits outstanding professional ethics and accomplishments but it is his sense of community and philanthropic involvement that truly defines this individual. He actively contributes to both local and national charitable organizations such as Disabled American Veterans, Habitat for Humanity, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, Make A Wish Foundation, Send Me On Vacation, Small Business Programs, various school and community programs, and has sponsored a child through a New York State program for over 10 years.

Patrick Hartough is truly an example of an individual that believes in "giving back" and in sharing his experience and knowledge gained through many years in the vacation industry. It is the sharing of this knowledge that continues to enhance the growth and strength we all strive for in this ever changing and developing industry.

Congratulations to Patrick Hartough... C.A.R.E. 2013 Pinnacle Award Winner!
